Metallomusikum: 2012 Maryland Deathfest band profiles

The 2012 Maryland Deathfest runs from May 24-May 27 at Sonar in Baltimore, Maryland, USA. I cannot think of a better way to spend the Memorial Day weekend. Organizers expect 2,000 people on Thursday and as many as 5,000 people each day on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Beginning in late March, I began posting short band profiles and interviews with bands, as I could arrange them, on every single band scheduled to play.

This page contains the complete list of links to every profile that I added to this site. There is also a separate list of more comprehensive band features or interviews at the bottom.

I hope these profiles will allow you to make the best choices about whom you will see this year at MDF. Aside from Thursday, there is no way to get around to every stage and see every group that is playing. You will have to make hard choices and miss some. Based on these profiles, however, you may discover that a band you miss here is playing in a nearby city in a few days or in a week. So there is always hope.

Many bands I contacted were willing to give simple or even extensive interviews about their performance at MDF. I was really surprised at how many had never played the USA before. I thank them all for the time they took to reply to my questions. I look forward to meeting these people in person in the coming week.
